Catalogue Essay
Some watch brands take years to reach a level of desirability, while others become legends almost immediately after creating their first watches. One such brand is Philippe Dufour. Born and educated in the Vallée de Joux, he worked for Jaeger LeCoultre, Gerald Genta, and with his growing reputation as a complication specialist, was commissioned by Audemars Piguet to create five grande sonnerie pocket watch movements. In 1996, Dufour introduced his iconic Duality, the world’s first wristwatch incorporating a double escapement. Featuring two independent balance wheels compensated with a central differential gear, the mechanism improves accuracy while also countering the effects of gravity. He initially planned to produce 25 examples, however only nine were made including the present watch with the extraordinary number ‘00’ - the very first Duality made by the master himself. Phillips is extremely proud to offer this Duality, one of a mere handful of Philippe Dufour watches ever to appear at auction. This example is preserved in wonderful condition and is absolutely complete, accompanied by its original certificate, brochure, and fitted presentation box. A modern masterpiece in every way, the present lot is an extremely rare opportunity to obtain one of the rarest, most important, and most sought after timepieces created by a living legend.

Часы Дюфура ушли существенно выше эстимейта - за 915.000 долларов, с учетом комиссии аукционного дома.
Действительно, отменный образец часового искусства, для меня - топ этих торгов (Дайтоне Пола Ньюмана до них как до Луны ))))
Удалось посмотреть и примерить их во время превью торгов, которое проводили в Лондоне. Корпус малого размера (для меня - просто идеальная вещь, ну может еще на пару см могли бы быть поболее). Топовый финиш. Грааль ))
Несколько фото ниже (тут уж как получилось - снималось просто на телефон и при не оченьхорошем свете в помещении)...

Приятно и символично видеть такие вещи на руки - в том смысле, что они не в футляре с биркой "никогда не доставать", а все-таки предполагаются быть использованными по назначению. А то иногда обидно за произведения часового механического(!)искусства, судьба которых из сейфа на торги и обратно, будучи заеденными только для демонстрации, что ходят.

Хмммм... Если бы были моими - точно бы носил!
А что с ними будет делать покупатель - неизвестно...

два баланса, отсылка к карманным часам из 1930ых, но я не настолько (или настолько не)спец, чтоб с по тексту с общими словами построить ясную схему(
Т.е. по рисунку примерно понятно крепление балансов, но где барабан, каково расположение при виде сверху, куда ведёт заводная головка?..

Роже Дубуи в своем двойном турбийоне также использует планетарную передачу для уравновешивания моментов. Планетарная передача вообще прижилась в часах и часто используется для сравнения моментов в системе запаса хода.
