Dear Mrs. Troyan,
Thank you for your reply and the pictures.
On December 7th, 1845 the master watch maker Ferdinand Adolph Lange from Dresden founded the watch factory in Glashütte.
At this time, other companies specialized in the production of pocket watches including: "A. Lange & Söhne", "J. Assmann" and the watch factory "UNION".
The pocket watches that were designed and manufactured in Glashütte differed to other watches because of their improved construction and prominent decorative details. Precision pocket watches from Glashütte attained an excellent rate of accuracy and became world-famous.
During 1890 to 1910 many other Swiss watchmakers exploited this reputation by producing watches with specific Glashütte characteristics. ("Bau"- and "System" Glashütte). Due to this, all "System Glashütte" watches have to be categorized as counterfeits and not original Glashütte watches.
With this in mind even if the watch is fully functional and well-preserved, we would not state more than a maximum price of 500,- Euro as the current collector's value.
It is with our regret that we must inform you of this matter but unfortunately this is the situation.
With kind regards,
Your “Glashütte Original” Sales Team
