Sequential One Watch By Manufacture Contemporaine du Temps

The universe of extraordinary haute horlogerie has a new star: the Sequential One from Manufacture Contemporaine du Temps (MCT). Presented in a 45mm case crafted from 18K white or rose gold, this avant garde creation of complicated watchmaking presents a complex yet entirely unconventional mechanical time display which presents the hours on a series of rotating triangular prisms, and the minutes on a transparent sapphire crystal disc. A sapphire crystal exhibition window reveals the lavishly decorated in-house MCT manual winding movement made up of 471 individual pieces and 81 ruby bearings. The balance, mounted on an elegantly curved balance cock, oscillates at a pace of 18,000 beats per hour. Power reserve is 40 hours.
Manufacture Contemporaine du Temps is headed up by Denis Giguet, a Swiss watch industry veteran in the high luxury sector. Giguet began his career engineering and designing bracelets for Rolex at the Gay Freres specialist firm, where his skill and application quickly earned him key positions at many prestigious watch firms. After joining Harry Winston in 2000, Giguet was quickly promoted to the Head of Development and Production for the remarkable Opus series, which involved such star watchmakers as Francois-Paul Journe, Christophe Claret, Vianney Halter, and the team of Greubel and Forsey. Giguet branched off on his own in 2006, establishing a consultancy firm which would quickly lead to creation of MCT, which currently involves twenty specialized horological experts. The design of the MCT Sequential One is the brainchild of Eric Giroud, a renowned expert in watch construction who is known to many watch fans as the head design force behind the extremely creative timepieces of MB&F (Maximilian Busser & Friends).
The MCT Sequential One watch will be presented with silver or black themed dials in both the rose and white gold versions; in total, there will be four variations, each of which will be offered in a limited series of 30 pieces. Each watch is fitted with an alligator strap and a double deployant buckle in the appropriate shade of 18K gold.

Судя по тому, что Лорен Пицциотто (Laurent Picciotto), владелец Chronopassion, лично представляет Sequential One на интернет-странице своего бутика, период тестирования и доработки первенца этой молодой марки прошел. Кстати, теперь там же озвучена и цена на новинку в 69 500 евро – неплохая награда, даже с учетом комиссионных и налогов, которая достанется автору этой концепции и владельцу марки – Дэнису Гиге (Denis Giguet), часовому мастеру Жерому Маркю (Jerome Marcu) и дизайнеру Эрику Жиро (Eric Giroud). Дэнис Гиге, до выхода в свободное плаванье, успел поработать в ROLEX и в часовом подразделении HARRY WINSTON в качестве главы производства, где и познакомился с Жеромом Маркю. Всего же над созданием Sequential One трудилось более 20 опытных мастеров.
Результат их работы обладает необычной и в тоже время наглядной и, в общем, удобной глазу индикацией времени. Главное не пытаться найти все часовые метки на привычных местах или около, довольствуйтесь тем, что основные- «6», «12», «3», «9» располагаются традиционно. Единственная стрелка- минутная отсчитывает время на 270-градусной шкале, которая, при достижении стрелкой 60-минутной отметки, совершает скачок влево на 90 градусов, открывая очередной блок из трехгранных призм, показывающих текущий час. Смена грани, а соответственно и показываемого часа, происходит пока очередной блок закрыт циферблатом. Есть еще и секундная стрелка, правда она находится с обратной стороны корпуса и имеет чисто техническую функцию синхронизации при выставлении точного времени.
