Много в последнее время писалось о точности GS VFA и даже индивидуально выпускавшихся сверхточных Ролексах. Не припомню что-бы упоминали в этой связи Girard Perregaux Observatory Chronometer.

Кстати, наряду с GS - GP был единственным "массовым" производителем Обсерваторных Хронометров - эти часы можно было приобрести в свободной продаже. По-моему было сделано всего около 200 VFA GS. Только в 1967г. Observatory Neuchatel сертифицировала 632 калибра GP как Observatory Chronometer.

В 1967 году, Girard-Perregaux получает "Centennial Prize" от Observatory Neuchatel. Этот приз за всё время существования "Обсерватории" выдавался всего один раз - только GP.

V.F.A. stands for "Very Fine Adjusted." This super high precision model sought to explore the farthest limits of accuracy in a mechanical watch. It delivered a monthly rate of ± one minute or less.

Chronometer appeal

In the middle of 1960's, European Chronometer Official Association appealed that Seiko shouldn't use the name Chronometer. Because of that, Seiko was unable to use the name of Chronometer. With this appeal, Seiko, Daini Seikosha and Suwa established stricter group internal standard for quality which was called GS standard. Seiko watches which had this Chronometer declaration began to be use the name of Grand Seiko according to company internal GS standard. (62GS,44GS) At the same time, the Japan chronometer approval organization was organized, and officially approval started in 1969. (however, because of rise of quartz it was closed in 1983) Chronometer of 45,56,52 King Seiko did PASS this official approval.
About astronomical observatory Chronometer Concours

From 1964, Daini Seikosha Co.,Ltd and Suwa Seikosha Co has participated in a department of Neuchatel at astronomical observatory Concours .


In the first participation, Daini got 153th place grade and Suwa got 144th grade. Order is suddenly raised afterwards. Only three years later, Daini got 4,5,7,8th and Suwa acquired 12th in 1967. With regard to the series prize, Omega won the best, Daini got the second and Suwa got the third prize. But the Concours was stopped suddenly by the year. The contents of Concours was an examination of astronomical observatory Chronometer standard precision for 45 days. Watches passed that examination became certificate "astronomical observatory authorization Chronometers". Each watch manufacturer submitted special movement produced only for the Concours .
Most of them were not good for commercial market as they were too high precision, not durable.
But this 45GS was marketed after it passed this astronomical observatory Chronometer (only 73 units of 100 were PASSed))
There were only two companies who could sell watches passed astronomical observatory authorization Chronometer in those days. ---Seiko and Giraud Peregaux.

The attached document may tell, as it´s the front of an actual Observatory timing certificate (called a "bulletin"). Looking closer, you may see it´s been tested to an average gain of 0.24 seconds per day, which equals about 1 second every 4 days or roughly 7.5 seconds per month. Or roughly 90 seconds per year, that´s about 1 1/2 minutes.
Naturally these results were achieved under controlled laboratory conditions in a 40-days-test.

Согласно хронометрическому бюллетеню из поста #3 который является первой страницей оффициального Обсерваторного Сертификата - тестируемый экземпляр в среднем набирал 0.24 сек в сутки, 7.5 сек в месяц, 90 сек ( 1.5 мин. ) в год. Результаты на основе 40-дневного лабораторного теста.

73 калибра 45GS Сейко получают сертификат Observatory Chronometer в 1967 году, для сравнения 632 калибра GP 32A сертифицированы как Observatory Chronometer в том же 67-м в Observatory Neuchatel.

Получается, что хронометры такого высокого уровня выпускают до сегодняшнего времени 2 фирмы: GP и GS.

А разве GP выпускает сейчас?По моему нет.Да и Сейко,по моему,Observatory Chronometer не выпускает,я имею ввиду именно эту классификацию-Observatory Chronometer.

GP точно ничего подобного сейчас не выпускает. Была выпущена модель из коллекции 1966 из Палладиума как "tribute" "Centennial Prize" полученному GP в 1967 году и HF калибру 39A выпущенному в 1966 году. С обычным ГП механизмом конечно.

Только недавно читал статью по поводу GS - там было сказано что всего, за всё время было выпущено около 200 часов GS VFA.

После 67-го года и прекращения Обсерваторных тестов и сертификаций - GP продолжал выпуск "обычных" хронометров на калибре 39А.

Сертификат точности 1968 года. Каждый GP High-Frequency Chronometer ( каждый, даже не Observatory Chronometer ) гарантировал точность до 1 минуты в месяц.



Более ранний Сертификат точности 1966 года "обыкновенного" GP High-Frequency Chronometer - с гарантией точности +- 2 сек в сутки.
